Unseen Zelazny

by wjw on March 9, 2009

NESFA Press has very kindly sent along the Collected Stories of Roger Zelazny, Vols. I and II (of a projected six).

There are many stories in here that have never been collected before. And an introduction by me, but never mind.

I anticipate nothing but glorious reading pleasure for many days to come.

And best of all, hopefully there will be four more volumes after these two.

That reminds me–need to pick up these two…

Lovely. Just last year I reread the Amber books for the first time in a long time, so I’m primed for more. I know there’s a lot of short fiction I’ve not read, even beyond the short fiction no one’s seen. I’m off to amazon.com . . . .

In some respects, as much as I love them, I realize that the Amber books are far from the best things that Zelazny wrote, and he often wrote better at short length than long.

They’re gorgeous! The first thing I did when I arrived at Boskone last month was to make a beeline for the NESFA table and buy my copies.

If I one day wrote something 1/100th as good as Lord of Light, it would make me insufferably arrogant.

Good thing that it’s vanishingly unlikely.

Rodger Z. is one of my favorite authors. My Kindle will arrive tomorrow. I think this book will be the first I download (If it has been kindleated).
