Pleasing Surprise of the Week

by wjw on May 28, 2009

Hey! Jo Walton, author of the excellent Small Change alternate histories, who had previously said some nice things about me, now says some nice things about Dread Empire’s Fall.
When a writer with Walton’s talent says I’m good, I just get all squishy inside.

Hope this will help you to sell more of the series!

I do love those covers lined up like that. Methinks it’s time for a reread.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first two books. I enjoyed much of the third, but the point of the murder investigation subplot eludes me, and a few of Sula’s actions push the carrying capacity of my disbelief suspenders to their limits. (Not the urban guerrilla segments, they’re very good.)

I’ve used aspects of Sula’s hacking expedition in The Sundering in describing risk scenarios to technical but non-security minded folks.
