I remember a mystery proposal with a protagonist who partook freely of illegal pharmaceuticals, and with a plot that revolved around amanita mushrooms. Would have been an ideal character for a cyberpunk novel, but for the straight-laced mystery crowd, it might as well have been set in Oz.
