I Cannot Avoid the Topic of Publishing

by wjw on April 22, 2020

So the other night I dreamed that I worked on the staff of an established magazine called Huguenots Today, which was threatened by the publication of a newer, glitzier magazine called Huguenots Now!  That exclamation point was like a weapon brandished in our direction.

Ad revenue fell.  There were lots of meetings, and an air of desperation.  Nobody knew what to do.

It all seemed familiar, somehow.

I had a dream the other night. I was at my grandparents old place, getting it fixed up to be sold. I fell asleep, then woke up as a van pulled up to the door. I thought there were burglars, breaking in to do bad things.

I grabbed my katana and took a martial arts stance. I did not have time to put on pants. It was the painters. They were very attractive women. There was much pointing at me and laughing. I suspect, this may have been a repressed memory of events a few years back. I suspect my issues go deep.

PS. Just rebrand yourself, “Future Huguenots!!!”

I haven’t regularly remembered my dreams since I was a child, but I’ve remembered more in the last 5 weeks than at any time since I was 10 or so.

To Hugue or not to Hugue. That is the question …

Sorry. Been watching Slings & Arrows, where that would have been a straight line.
