Friend of the blog Steinar Bang has sent me this clip of Norway-born Sami Ella Marie Hætta Isaksen performing a masterful joik.
It appears to be some kind of competition show. Now why can’t we have shows like this in the States?

It’s from something called “Stjernekamp”, literally “Star battle”, where established musical artists from different genres compete against each other, in different genres (e.g. opera, musical, heavy metal, country, joik, hip hop).
Ella Marie was the winner of the 2018 edition of “Stjernekamp”.
She basically aced all genres.
The participants love the show because they get to try, for real, so many different things, with real, expert coaches.
The viewers like the show (it has good ratings) because the stuff on there is damn good!
