Momentum

by wjw on August 12, 2025

I’ll be heading to Worldcon tomorrow, and afterwards enjoy a couple weeks’ vacation. This was all planned months ago, without knowing I was going to be trying to finish Heaven in Flames around this time.

I finished the penultimate chapter last week, and then decided not to write the finale right away, but go back to the beginning and do a final polish first, hoping to get some momentum before jumping into the last chapter. Now I’ll be away from the novel for over three weeks, and I’ll lose any momentum.

Oh well. I’ll continue with my usual grit and determination and plod onward to the finish.

I seem not to have any programming at Worldcon, which has happened to me a lot at recent Worldcons. I was guest of honor at the Worldcon in 2017, after which I seem to have been forgotten.

It’s not like I wanted to be on an Old-Timers’ Panel, but I’d like to think I’m still relevant to the field, at least a little bit.

At least there’s a substantial number of Toolboxers at the con, and I’m looking forward to Taos Toolbox reunions. They should be awesome.

Otherwise I’ll be wandering around the con meeting friends. If you see me, come say hi.
