Now that Alice in Wonderland has entered general release— my modest opinion of the film is offered below— perhaps it’s time for this glimpse into the mind of the Master.

Here's a nice antidote for Burton's CGI crapfest. Ian Holm's lovely reading of "Sitting on a Gate" from the 1998 ALICE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS, with Kate Beckinsale as a surprisingly good Alice (lots of versions have cast the role with an adult woman, but this one has a frame depicting her reading the story to her daughter, then falling asleep and into it). This lovely version brings an unexpected and effective sense of melancholy to the nonsense.
