Drawing Closer
Here we have a study for the upcoming re-release of my novel The Rift, by the artist/designer Ares Jun.
This study for my earthquake novel was delayed because the part of the Philippines where Ares lives was hit by a 7.2 earthquake a few days ago. My heart goes out to the people of Bohol, who suffered over 100 dead and the destruction of many historical buildings.
In The Rift, the characters are faced with the reality of a world, indeed a universe, where destruction and violence can happen at any time, to anyone. It’s a fact of existence over which we, particularly in the developed world, tend to draw a curtain . . . at least until the ground begins to shake beneath our feet.
