Two Shots

So I am now officially Walter “Two-Shot” Williams.  I had my second Pfizer jab yesterday.

I must say New Mexico is doing this right— we’re the most vaccinated state in the country.  Having a governor with a degree in Public Health is a plus.

When I had my first shot, there was a long line of cars lined up to deliver their drivers to the Vaccination Station, and the cars were ushered through in pods, to be vaccinated more or less at the same time, then wait out the 15 minutes, and all without anyone having to leave the car.

This time there were no less than seven long lines of cars.  This resulted in having to wait a half-hour or so for my line to be called, but then once we started moving it all went well and quickly.  I listened to my audio book and drowsed through most of it.

I haven’t had any adverse symptoms, and haven’t felt any worse than I felt before the shot.  So I’m luckier than most, and will celebrate as soon as I can prudently do so.

I notice that New Mexico’s number of cases is creeping slowly upward.  Last week we’d got below 200 cases several days in a row, but now we’re over 200, with each day a slight advance over the last.  We’ve mostly opened up the state, and the predictable is happening.

So now it’s a race between the virus and the vaccine.  What are the odds?
