More Joy From Amazon

by wjw on March 6, 2016

So Amazon gave me my buy button back, but now they’ve sent a message to everyone who’s bought a copy of Metropolitan:

An updated version of your past Kindle purchase of Metropolitan (Metropolitan Series) by Walter Jon Williams is now available.

The updated version contains the following changes:
Improved formatting for readability.
Significant editorial changes have been made

I made no editorial changes, significant or otherwise, and I didn’t improve the formatting because nothing was wrong with the formatting in the first place.

Way to go, Amazon!  Because telling stupid, easily refutable lies always works!

Well, to be fair, it does seem to work for Agent Orange.

I got that message from Amazon. It seemed unlikely to me since, firstly, why would you have made changes and, secondly, if you had, you certainly would have mentioned it here. So, thank you for clearing that up.

It is a sad commentary on human nature that “…telling stupid, easily refutable lies…” is for many people a routine behavior.

WJW – I grabbed a copy of Metropolitan after hearing about your situation on David Gaughran’s blog (https://davidgaughran.wordpress.com/2016/03/11/amazon-takes-aim-at-scammers-but-hits-authors/). I hope it helps a tiny bit towards getting back some of the lost Bub sales. Best of luck!

For what it’s worth I just figured there had been some sort of glitch with the first version. I suppose this may have had more impact on anyone who was newer to your work but at this point I trusted the quality of what you do from your end.
