Uncle Howard Hath a Blog

by wjw on August 8, 2007

Howard Waldrop— y’know, the writer who invented steampunk and has written the best alternate-history stuff in the world, and who is known to his friends as “Mister National Treasure”— has launched, or rather allowed someone else to launch, a new edition of “the world’s most technologically primitive blog.” Check it out for a world-view uniquely Waldropian.

(“Waldropian” should be a real word, but isn’t. Yet.)

Howard’s earlier blogging efforts may be found here.

And, while you’re on Amazon buying Voice of the Whirlwind, allow me to recommend Howard’s first big retrospective, Things Will Never Be the Same.

Read my book first, though.

Ok, Howard’s second posting on how to use women’s ‘aides’ is f’ing hilarious. I was totally ROFL. The man knows his girl-stuff.

It has an lj syndication feed, so hopefully, I’ll start receiving Waldrop on my f-list.

Based on what they wrote, that’s pretty damned technologically primitive.

Mr Waldrop’s musings on urinary tract infections reminded me of a story that an Australian mate of mine told me years ago.

Bruce, who hailed from Perth in W. Australia, had a friend who was very proud of his Irish ancestry. He bet his mates in the pub that Irishmen pee’d green on St. Patrick’s day. What he didn’t tell his mates was that his girl friend was a nurse who had supplied him with a kidney flushing drug, a side effect of which was green pee.
On the appointed day the clientele of the pub gathered in the gents – and the Irishman won his bet!

Speaking of Howard Waldrop…

We missed seeing you at Armadillocon. Rest assured, your name came up a few times during Fannish Feud.

Hey, thanks for the plug for THINGS WILL NEVER BE THE SAME! We’re madly working on a second collection of longer pieces … 100,000+ of fiction and afterwords.
