Hear the agonized cries of the science fiction writers who, on release of a new paper by Stephen Hawking, must now revise the fundamentals of their future world.

Dude, that “new” paper is 6 months old.

But any SF writer teeth-gnashing would be a bit premature. See, e.g., http://www.nature.com/news/stephen-hawking-there-are-no-black-holes-1.14583 and, e.g., http://msutoday.msu.edu/news/2014/plugging-the-hole-in-hawkings-black-hole-theory-1/

On the other hand, Hawking has also recently pointed out a gift that SF writers haven’t yet taken from him: http://www.nerdist.com/2014/06/stephen-hawking-talks-parallel-universes-tells-jokes-on-last-week-tonight/
